Their outstanding contributions and dedication to the field of construction education have been recognised with multiple prestigious awards.
Sonya Meekel from TU Dublin, who has recently taken on the role of Region 8 Director, has been honoured with both the Regional Outstanding Educator Award and the International Outstanding Educator Award. These accolades highlight Sonya’s exceptional commitment and impact on construction education at both regional and international levels.
Dr. Onur Dursun from Liverpool John Moores University received the Best Proceedings Award for their innovative research, co-authored by Dr. Mohammed Qabshoqa of LJMU, titled “The Influence of Virtual Reality in Built Environment Education: Evidence from Quantity Surveying Courses.” This groundbreaking study showcases the transformative potential of virtual reality in enhancing the educational experiences of quantity surveying students.
Additionally, Dr. John J. Posillico from Birmingham City University was awarded second place in the same category for his insightful research titled “Defining the Key ‘Professional Development Skills’ of Construction Managers from Influential UK Construction Organisations.” Dr. Posillico’s work provides valuable insights into the essential skills required for effective construction management, further enriching the academic and professional landscape of the industry.
